As a pilot version of Project∞Infinity, an exchange event between students in Portugal and Japan was recently held online!
Three schools from Japan participated in the event: Ozu Junior High School in Osaka, Koriyama High School in Fukushima, and Asaka High School also in Fukushima.
Many teachers and students from Portugal also participated in the event, which transcended national barriers.

Students of Ozu Junior High School showed off their new standard uniforms (uniforms) that they had just made after much discussion!

Asaka High School also introduced their cultural festival called “Shikisai”!
Koriyama High School introduces their favorite ramen restaurant in their neighborhood!
They also showed a video of them eating ramen, which looked so delicious!

The Portuguese students also gave a presentation.
After listening to the Japanese student’s presentation, they connected with each other by what they liked. There was also a moment when we were connected by what we like!
At the end of the session, we had a little Q&A time, and the hands went up!
In Japan, it seems that not many people raise their hands during these Q&A sessions.
But on this day, Japanese students were also actively raising their hands, and I was absorbed in this moment of connection that transcended national barriers.
I felt that they were absorbed in this moment of being connected beyond national barriers!
I was also pleased to see that some students who had planned to present in Japanese but wanted to present in English until just before the event said, “I want to present in English! Some of the students even took up the challenge of translating their presentations into English in a short time!
I think that through this day, both children and adults may be able to begin to overcome their own barriers!
